PDO Thread Lift Q & A

What is a PDO thread lift?

A polydioxanone (PDO) thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment that offers similar results to a surgical face-lift. Even though a surgical face-lift offers more dramatic results, many people prefer the more subtle and natural-looking appearance that a PDO thread lift provides.

During the treatment at Younger World Med Spa, the team inserts polydioxanone threads beneath your skin starting near your temples. The threads go deep down through the tissues in your cheeks, where they catch on the tissue with small barbs. The team gently lifts these threads, which in turn lifts the skin and tissues upward.

The treatment doesn’t stop when you leave the office. Instead, the placement of the threads causes tissue damage that your body must work to repair. To do so, your tissues grow new collagen fibers. These collagen fibers grow around the PDO thread in order to hold the tissues in their newly elevated positions. Then, the threads themselves dissolve.

What are the results of a PDO thread lift?

A PDO thread lift can eliminate certain areas of sagging and some of the larger wrinkles associated with collagen loss in the face. PDO threads stimulate collagen for generally firmer and tighter skin but can also minimize features like:

  • Jowls
  • Marionette lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sunken brows

You can see your results right away from the PDO thread lift and go home the very same day. However, you’ll need to make a few considerations as you recover. To maintain the best possible results from a PDO thread lift, you should avoid smoking, drinking through a straw, sleeping on your side, and intense exercise for the first couple weeks.

How should I prepare for a PDO thread lift?

Preparing for a PDO thread lift or any other cosmetic procedure starts with a consultation at Younger World Med Spa. You can tell the team about your goals and let them know of any questions or concerns ahead of time.

Once the team decides a PDO thread lift is the right option for you, they may give you other instructions to follow leading up to your treatment. These might include:

  • Avoiding smoking
  • Avoiding or replacing blood-thinning medications
  • Avoiding alcohol
  • Making arrangements for your brief recovery
  • Arriving to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin

Taking steps to prepare for any cosmetic procedure improves the outcome and minimizes the chance of complications.
